Bare

Bare

A Poem by Gracynn

I freeze at a instant waiting for the end
Time drags by no matter the prayers I send
Tears run down my face without a fair warning
His parents in the next room faintly snoring
I cry out their attention I seek
But friend, no one saves the mild and meek
Innocence stripped down to the flesh so bare
Out cold he continues completely aware
The paralyzed body he decides to shake
My chest bursts with unknown fear now wide awake
"Don't worry," he says, "it's okay"
He smiles at me the damaged prey

"Time drags by no matter the prayers I send"
- For only if time were always on our side, beautifully captured here in only a few words.

This is a very good poem. It captures perfectly feelings of helplessness and abandonment. I love your last line. Well done and keep writing! :)
