11th Month, 11th Day, the 11th Hour

11th Month, 11th Day, the 11th Hour

A Poem by Ironbutt
"

Remembrance equals respect.

"
My eyes have seen,
my ears have heard the sound,
my hands have touched
the affects of a round.
My heart has felt,
my soul has cried out,
my tears have flowed
and my spirits been down.
Our bodies have ached under
unforgiving weight,
our feet have bled
from weeks of unchecked.
Our eyes wary from all the bloodshed.
Unsent letters pressed to our chests,
promises made, promises kept.
Homeward bound the hopes of the day,
Some hopes are answered..........
here is where they lay.
Freedom is not free, the cost is high,
on the 11th month, 11th day, the 11th hour,
please bow your head and close your eyes.
Remember them.
