One Snowflake's Journey

One Snowflake's Journey

A Poem by Ironbutt
"

We see at times, only what we need to see...perhapes we need a tag along.....

"
The journey started from far away..
a few hours from Christmas Day..
the snowflakes came slowly drifting down..
down to folks with places to go..
husstle from store to store..
last minute shopping on their minds..
one snowflake decided to take a ride...
It road on the collar of a busy man..
spreading cheer and out reached hand...
a hug were it was needed every now and then...
then the snowflake was caught up in the wind...
off he drifted to a card board box..
looked down and didnt see alot..
just a pair of rag covered feet..
but..two people were sharing what they had to eat...
still laughter filled the air
as he perched there..
some folks were arriving with hot pans of food...
then the wind caught the snowflake  and off he flew....
This time as he settled down..he felt him self on hard hard ground..
and he felt  the shake come from all around...
he knew he had landed in a war...
he waited for the a friendly wind to take him away..
some where , any where , a place that was safe..
but no wind came to take him away...
as he watched from the sandbags, looked down below..
a few soldiers had letters from home..
letters that would have to wait....
slowly the snowflake lost his frost..
and as his journey time was up..
He  was able to see the soldiers file by....
letters were read and goodie box..
a shared cup of coffee and homemade socks...
and the snowflake felt  the spirit in side...
he was ready to go home... it had been a good, good ride.
