Crow couldn't wait to get out of this town. It wasn't because of the rain plastering his hair to his head or the cuts and scrapes he had acquired from tripping over numerous sticks and stones, but because of the girl sitting on the bench to the right of him. She held a cup of coffee in both hands, keeping it close to her chest as if it would warm her up. Her shoulder length hair, just as soaked as his, stuck to her cheeks. She didn't seem to mind.
He thought she was pretty, or as pretty as a girl could get drenched in rain, and probably would have tried talking to her if not for the fact that she flinched away whenever he tried to make eye contact. It was as if she thought he was more likely to punch her in the face than give her a friendly smile.
