Cinderella

Cinderella

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

I'm not Cinderella

I'm not waiting for my prince

There won't be any ball

Or pumpkins turned to carriages

He won't come to rescue me

From a life of misery

There won't be a glass slipper

Or any enchanted spells

Too many girls spend their lives

Waiting for their prince to come

Holding onto a fading hope

That they'll get their happily ever after

Well I already have mine

I'm living my dream come true

I got here through hard work

I saved myself from a life of misery

I'm not Cinderella

And I don't need a prince

I'm a strong, independent woman

Who doesn't need a man to make her whole
