Big Dream

Big Dream

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

A little girl had a big dream
That seemed so far away
That one day she'd walk into a bookstore
And there on the display
She would see a book with her name

After countless rejections she began
To lose hope it would come true
Maybe her work wasn't good enough
She wanted it more than air to breathe
But wanting something doesn't make it a reality

She kept on writing anyway
She did her best to rebuild her faith
There were times wen she cried herself to sleep
Still she believed in what she could do
All she needed was a pencil and some paper

After all she's only twenty one
She's got her whole life to keep on trying
She'll be turned down more times than she can count
But if she gives up now
She's let that little girl down
