Blossom

Blossom

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

I watched you grow and blossom

From a dream you came alive

And never have I ever been so proud

And all too soon came the day

When I knew I’d have to let you walk away

I clung to you for dear life

I tried to prolong the inevitable

Because with you everything made sense

You gave me a purpose in this life

And now I’m suspended and dangling in the air

I knew from the beginning this day would come

And once upon a time it couldn’t come soon enough

The anticipation was so intense

But now that it’s here I just want to go back

Because letting go of you is harder than I thought

I grew you from my imagination

I watered a little seed into a mighty plant

I never expected to fall quite so hard for you

You’re a part of me just as much as I’m a part of you

But now it’s time I step back and watch this dream come true
