This Place

This Place

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

Everything is about to change
I ask myself "Am I ready?"
My heartbeat is far from steady
All I know is I'll miss this place

This place I've come to know
This place, like a second home
This place I've come to love
This place with the familiar faces

It's hard to move on
It's scary to leave it all behind
I'm headed for the big bad world
I hope it doesn't eat me alive

This place is my sanctuary
It's where I feel safe
It's like my cocoon
I'm not sure I'm ready to be free

This place is where it all began
It's where I became who I am
I'm about to close the door
And I may never return

This place holds so many memories
This place is a part of me
This place was where I belonged
But now I'm moving on
