Anymore

Anymore

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

You ripped my beating heart from my chest
Then tried to tell me it's for the best
But this isn't your choice
And I still have a voice

I won't let you walk away
Not this time; not today
I won't give up on you
Not after all that we've been through

I will stay up all night
If that's what it takes to make things right
Don't you want to try?
Before we say goodbye

Don't you love me anymore?
I'm right behind this door
Don't you still care?
This game is anything but fair

Do I even mean anything?
When I gave you everything
I miss that sparkle in your eyes
The way you always soothed my cries

You broke me like a toy
You always play so coy
We've made it this far
But now i don't know who you are

Is this truly what you choose?
Think of all you stand to lose
You were supposed to fight for me
Not surrender so easily

Tell me is it too late?
Have you already barred your gate?
Or is there a still a chance?
Must we keep up this tragic dance?

Don't you love me unconditionally?
Or have we reached our end finally?
I never knew love could be so rough
Or there would come a day when I wasn't enough

But you don't want me anymore
And we can't go back to before
Back before we fell apart
Back before you lost your heart
