A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

They used to sing about us

Sitting up in a tree kissing

And we used to roll our eyes

And say it wasn’t like that at all

Did you know secretly I loved you?

I think you might have loved me too

Your eyes were always warm

And your grin was always goofy

I can’t help but think maybe

In another time and another place

We could have been together

Maybe we would have been forever

I found myself drawn to you

Never have I laughed so hard since you

And whenever I was near you

My heart would start to stutter

You know when I close my eyes

I can still see those lips stretch into a smile

I haven't seen you since I was a kid

But I think I might still love you
