![]() My LoveA Poem by Haley Lynn ThomasI would have stood by you Fought for and defended you I would have been the one you turned to If you hadn’t turned me away
I would have been an ear to listen I would have been a shoulder to cry on I never would have judged you But you had no problem judging me
I would have loved you The way I promise you she never will The sad truth is I did and do But my love wasn’t enough for you
Her love’s the cheapest you can find It won’t last half as long as mine If that’s what you want, then fine But my love’s one of a kind
I would have been your best friend I would have been your confidant Someday you’re going to reflect back on it And realize I was the best thing you had
I would have been your ally You made me into your enemy When her love runs on empty Don’t come trying to locate me
You made your choice You returned my love You didn’t want it anymore So now it’s no longer yours
I would have offered you my hand to hold To protect you from this cold And my arms could have remained your home But you decided to roam
Someday when you reminisce You’ll realize the mistake you made And when you find yourself all alone You’ll understand my love was lost © 2014 Haley Lynn Thomas |
