Empty chair Poem

Empty chair Poem

A Poem by harlow

I sit and cradle all he loved

My heart upon my sleeve

His chair and slippers where he left them

His aftershave lingers in the air

If I look with longing at his chair

I’m sure I see him in it

He turns his head and smiles at me , winks with cheeky ease

I move my tired limbs and watch the chair vacated

Sure that my love my dear old friend

Is sitting there beside me

Should I ask him about his day

Or just let the rest take care

I long to chat and kiss his check

But I know no longer will he come

Still I feel as if he never left

As I read this I feel as though the person you speak of has either left for some reason or passed away. My mind is still waking up from my sleep so I am sorry if the meaning is lost on me, but regardless it gave me a vivid look into a life of a woman who still wishes for a loved one to return.
