In honor of UN World Poetry Day, blog post for promoting Central American writers and their voices

"
Good morning! In celebration of today being UN World Poetry Day, I am reaching out to say congratulations to all of my friends who are poets, or who enjoy poetry, and who support cultural programs in general. Thank you from the heart for what you bring to the world!

I am a poet with 7 published books of poetry, andI have helped a dozen other writers translate, preapre, or publish their books. I work with some amazing initiatives here in Guatemala to promote the disappointingly underrepresented voice of Central American writers on the national and international stage.

I invite you you read a 6-minute blog article about what these initiatives are doing this year, and share in your creative circles if you know anyone who would like to support our work, collaborate with some of our poets, or bring a poetry reading, workshop, or discussion to your group. We are looking for individual and organizational support at the national and international level.

This publication is also available as a letter that can be downloaded, and will be translated into Spanish in the near future.

Also- be sure to write a poem today, read a poem today, listen to a poem today! Better yet, if you have friends who wirte poetry, buy their book to give as a gift to yourself or someone you love!

Poetically speaking,

Rachael Marie
