Pillow

Pillow

A Poem by Terri

Sad and dispaired
She scumed the city streets
They won't notice I'm gone
Until I walk through those doors
Giving them another reason to yell

Am I only a prop?
A pillow
To scream at
To punch
A way to keep your frustrations
Away from your favorite

A maid maybe
A member of staff
Never seen
Never doing anything right

Turning to the alley way
She gripped the money tight in her fist
A man stood in the shadows
Held out the case
Held out his other hand for the money

They won't realize I'm missing
They'll just realize $1,000 is missing

She exchanged the money for the case
And the man walked away

She stood against the wall
Less places for the pieces to fall
She bit her lip and
She pushed the safety pin through her skin
Her stomach bled
The note read

I cannot take my life anymore
I'm Kate Edlestein and my life is no longer
Beaten and battered you find me
With an object not belonging
My foster parents will want the $1,000
But they won't find it
My life is gone, but I will be watching
Every child, that is abused

She opened the case
Grabbing the object
She said last prayers

Open the gates for me
You child is coming
To an eternal slumber
Of final peace

Opening her mouth
She breathed her last breath
And pulled the trigger
