Relatively Speaking

Relatively Speaking

A Poem by Crowley

If my moral compass is sprung,

you say it is,

then what I see when I look at you

is not true North, as it once had been.

If the path that I walk is not on the map,

you say it’s not,

then the exit ramp I take

will not lead to you.

With a new sextant and a shiny new atlas,

I will travel the world and search for the relativity

that you certainly must admire.

Or, I will just go in circles and search for my happiness,

at the center.

We all come back to the center, to the base even if we travel far and wide. We long for that one place of love, safety and security; a place we belong to or a memory we keep. I'm glad we have some exit ramps but we can make a u-tern and come back.
An excellent and powerful write.

You too sir Crowley. You are welcome.
This was fantastic as in one of the best things I've read in quite awhile, anywhere. Don't let all that searching wind your formidable wit down the drain, my friend. Going round in circles towards the center always brings that fear to my mind. And with such brilliant metaphor and calculating logical progression as this, that would be an awful loss to us all. Had to add this one to my favorites! Well done!

I miss you Q!! Thanks for reading and not kicking me to the curb for being so absent.
I've been looking for one of those places too C, where the point of the compass whirls in a very excited way. All I've found so far is the North Pole, but I'm not really into moving anywhere slightly cooler than where I am.
I did try a tropical island a la Robinson Crusoe, but someone kept chucking coconuts at my head when I wasn't looking.
Just remember the mantra "even when we're right, we're also wrong about everything else."
I think that's what the woman said, but can't be sure. I had a coconut concussion at the time 😊
