Empty Love

Empty Love

A Poem by Tony Hwilka

At crack of dawn I awake

                         find you gone

Note left under tissue box

Thanks -- a few bucks for your trouble

I have fallen into your trap of lies

This is what I deserve after you consume

my heart -- my love -- my soul -- my being

Morning sun withers into dark

                        clouds of abstract art

I slip out of bed and catch the next flight home.

This moment read/and felt like shades of gray if that makes sense...
The emotion and loss clearly felt in just a few lines.

Really liked the break in the lines near the end too. Very nice effect.
Good luck in the challenge!
