daddy dearest

daddy dearest

A Poem by Heather Hassell

i just hate the fact
that i have your eyes

the same eyes that
can look back at me with
contempt

an ocean full of malice
and disgust as if
i was the one who
sunk your neatly
built palace

A daughter's perceptions, a father's shortcomings,
and pain revealed without hesitation. Thank you for sharing an anguish I can feel, dear poet.

Do you think his father's day tie will become too heavy for his neck?
