Rainy Day Song

Rainy Day Song

A Poem by A.A.Romanczuk
"

I'm feeling a bit silly :D

"

I am singing that rainy day, rainy day song

The one that goes deep down, deep down

Into your achy, weary, sad, sad bones

I’ve been singing moodily hey-la-oo-la-hey

Ah for to keep myself company all day, all day

Ah drat that, drat that fat cat for stealing my crown

And that cheese for stealing the mouse who stole the cat

Who stole my crown and broke a jar for me to sweep

The broom did pout all honey-stuck and leaves came in the house

I’m singing myself a rainy blue, rainy blue song from inside deep

Instead of knocking on the door like a respectable person, the rain

Did come a-knocking on the roof- well I’ll be jiggered if I’d let such a one in!

Well now there was no one to talk to, no one, no one in that house

So I made do with the tea pot, taught it some new words, and we began to jig

Hey-la-oo-la-hey there’s stains on the walls and leaves on the floor Hey-la-oo-la-hey

There’s cold in my bones and thorns on my throne and the broom ran off with the mop

But Hey-la-oo-la-hey, hey-la-oo-la-hey why should we, now why should we care a fig?

Hey-la-oo-la-hey, not while we’re singing that rainy day, rainy day song

This perfectly fits my day. Astonishing rain this morning as I sat in a cafe thinking of hauling my weary bones into London. Spot on, esp the first three lines. I really like the word 'jiggered' also. I remember this word from when I was a kid in North England. I smiled at the notion of trainng the tea pot. But whey not? (the poem is sooo not now, not iPads, iPhones and all that stuff) I cld also imagine Dylan howling this one out, too. it took me out of myself. Well done.

There's such a dancing, rhythmic music of dark and light, wet and dry, cold and warm... all that seem so enchanted in your wondrous song... Twill bring hope and happiness, no matter the weather! Am dancing a jig... :)
