True to my colors

True to my colors

A Poem by Holli_samantha

True to my color,
or so i was told.

My mama said
it's one big family

Youll always have protection
they always got your back

i walk down the street
than turn the other way

i know on the corner
he's packing his gun

his hair slicked back
a hand on his pants

the shot goes off
i drop to the ground

the bullet sails over my head
get up and run

around the corner my homeboy
pulls out his gone.

Shot! My homie lays on the concrete.
Sirens! take off running

I watch as they feel his neck.
hes not coming back.

Ill find who did this
ill pull my knife.

Ill cut him

watch him drain the color he fought for.

He takes his last breathe
true to your color
or so i was told
