Her Thunder

Her Thunder

A Poem by Matthew Young

Distraught with old techniques

Of letting go in this rainstorm

Sometimes memories can drown

In such a downpour

Sometimes they don’t

And grow inside twice as strong

As the lightning bolt sent

From her desire into a crowded

Church on a Sunday afternoon

I will not let myself into this love

Without some drugs and a rosary

I hope you understand
