Baby Dont Paint

Baby Dont Paint

A Poem by zaneybear

she said "baby don't paint

don't put that brush to paper,

this canvas is a wonderful thing,

don't put all this work to waste"

She said "it took 16 years to paint this,
why throw it away in 5 minutes?"

This canvas is worn, full of strawberry gashes and white caps,

cascading over fresh falls of paint.

Spilling onto the floor from the tub,
the final marks on her piece,

are those marks no one can forget.

She said "baby don't paint"

And I said "I have the brush, I just need the paint
so I can finish my masterpiece"

Highly symbolic and poignant, I liked the subtlty of this work. It has a touch of sophistication that lends to its character. A truly enjoyable read.
