Kaleidoscope

Kaleidoscope

A Poem by Hyorin

red.
the colour of the setting sun.
on grassy patches stained crimson
you told me, 'I'll miss you'

green.
the colour of verdant vastness
in the depths of the Amazon
you told me, 'It won't be long before I see you again.

blue.
the colour of the azure skies
in the company of the ocean
you told me, 'I hope I left a memory with you.'

black.
the colour of the tranquil night
on the balcony of our castle
you told me, 'I'll be here forever, like the stars.

white.
the colour of the operating theatre
on your death bed
you told me, 'I'm sorry I couldn't stay.'

your hand and mine were intertwined. like our fates. like our futures. but your hand eventually grew limp. it eventually broke away.

then i realised. life is an ephemeral twist and turn of events, like shattered glass, and our broken promises
