Growing Up

Growing Up

A Poem by Hyorin

the transition from toddler toys to charcoal black business suits,
the ebb and flow of memories as you cross beaches of past and present in endless pursuit,
you as a child at a roadside barbers' as you see yourself wrinkle day by day,
the crossing of antiquity and future as you wave goodbye to the ocean bay.

the tsunami of whirling wistfulness as you flip through anachronistic photo books,
as the fleeting past and the current flows and crashes,
the dolls you once played with smothered in layers of dust,
as you crossed serpentine milky ways of your winding past.

frivolous facades frolick concealing cheerful childhood,
as sepulchral shadows supersede innocence with intentions no good,
a transient traverse along the corridors of time,
as you flipped open that picture book reminding you of times divine
