A poem about what feels like a painful, missed opportunity.

I thought we were close
and that we both cared,
but now I don't know
how much I should've shared

We were so close
Just behind the finish line
to a new world for us both
Maybe it was a waste of time

Should this door close?
It's so hard to decide
In truth, I'm afraid to let go
and still want you at my side

Maybe my chest should close
so I don't lose any more
Like my stock is running low
as if I'm a store
