I've Changed, People Say

I've Changed, People Say

A Poem by iamshadowine

I've changed, people say,

I've got attitude, instead of gratitude.

I've changed, people say,

My talks, my ways,

Everything they say, have changed.

I've changed, people say,

I've become rude,

I’ve got a strange behaviour,

They give me some tips to change my mood.

I’ve changed, people say,

I figured out what trust is,

My true friends don’t blame it.

I’ve changed, people say,

Never cared what others thought,

Because they don’t know the reason my soul caught.

But it killed me inside,

The words my best friend conveyed.

“Buddy, I heard from people that you changed,

Didn't believe them until today.

But now I say, you truly have changed.”

That killed me inside,

The words she uttered,

Broke my heart into pieces of stone cold ice.

thank you :)
Very strong writing!-well done Shadowine. Very intriguing because you don't give away the reason for the change. I think sometimes there are psychological reasons that we don't appreciate. Can I mention a couple of small points I noticed. In line 5 it should read 'has changed'. Also I am not sure about your phrase 'soul caught'. Is it there just to make the rhyme
I did like it and most people will relate to this idea of change.

This struck a cord with me. Change is constant, we are meant to change. We resist it so much because it scares us, and those around us. Change is nothing more then opening ourselves up to more experiences. You have captured the struggle of changing when those closest too us refuse to change. Truly beautiful writing!

thank you so much! :D
Your is absolutely stunning. Maybe change is good, prevents you from continuing getting hurt from the same reason, the same people.

Usually change is good but when you're forced to because of other people's attitudes towards you, it's sad. When all you have left to do is turning your back on people because they are bad for you; your mind and your soul, it's slowly eating you up in a way. The last lines read heartbreaking.

So true what a close friend feels cuts way deeper then a thousand people saying it. Well done.

This reminds me very much of the times when I've been hurt and it simply hurt so much that I wanted to retreat into myself and do everything I could to shove people away, and the easiest way to do that was to become the biggest piece of crap I could. It was the worst thing I could do, and it does nothing but kill you. Your poem does a great job depicting that. Great work.
