slender hands burns

"

a tribute, but its not very good. it needs some work

"
she tried to be
a blues singer once
but it wasn't
the right color

at least that's
what the mountain
told her

it said
wild roses
don't come
in blue

she stopped singing
until the whippoorwill
taught her its song

i feel like i'm trying to sell a cheap knock-off... Emily Burns is the Queen of Lonesome. I sometimes read something I've written and realize it sounds like I'm trying feebly to be like her...

I feel you have done something of your own here and I really enjoyed it. If we read each others poetry on this site we are bound to be inspired and influenced by it just as we are influenced by everything else in our lives. ' She tried to be a blues singer once but it wasn't the right color' excellent!

. an absolutely amazing heartsong and tribute ... it's an infinitely beautiful water colour painting ... for a truly special poet ... i think the title "Queen of Lonsesome" is also sweet and apt ... beautifully written ...
