Crossroads Oblivion

Crossroads Oblivion

A Poem by icelandicblue

They stood at the crossroads
and made a devil's deal
he didn't believe that
it was irrevocably sealed.

They worked out the details
which were one sided at best,
he found true oblivion that
paved his hellish quest.

He sunk to  dark depths
his innocence peeled away,
he'd do the unthinkable
falling further astray.

The road to redemption
covered in needles and blood
the slopes are too slippery-
to grasp those that he loves.

So we wait for salvation
for the light to be found
and hope that he finds
his own solid ground.

Our love never wavers
we all pray for his life
and trust he survives
all this danger and strife.

We live with sharp terror
in our hearts and our souls,
and we wait for the time
when this family is whole.

Awwwww, this actually made me cry! I am trying to find the right words to say here while my eyes are filled with tears that just keep falling. You know I am here if you wanna talk, I may only be 16 but I am a good listener. You know, you don't always need to be the strong one. Sometimes even we - as the strong ones - need a little cry, need to breakdown, need to be cared for and showed some affection. We all care for you deeply, here at the cafe (especially me! :)) and I know you will all get through this, I believe you all will. Your son will eventually realise what has been done and broken and he will want to, need to change it.

This was haunting... Sometimes we see those around us taking the "dark path" and there is nothing we can do; a powerless feeling. I have dealt with people close to me having addictions and the like, and I have been to many a therapy session to deal with my own feelings on the subject...what I have learned...only the person with the problem can choose to turn things around. As outsiders, and people who care about someone, we want to be the hand that reaches in, scoops them up and injects some sort of sanity into their psyches, but it's just not our place. That is what I got from this, at least...it hit very close to home for me right now. Brings tears to my eyes thinking about it. Well done...

Sweet lady, my heart breaks for you and for your family. My eyes burn with tears, as the room around me turns to mist...my fingers on the keys continue to search for the right words to give you even as tears all but blind me...but I have none.
Keep writing, keep letting it out unto the page...make us all a part of your support system, your extended family. We are your sisters and brothers, bound not by ties of blood, but of ink.
Just know that I, and I am sure many others, are praying for you, and for your family.

Anne, once more your poem saddens my heart. I feel so much anguish for you and your family. Be waiting at the bottom of that slippery slope, I have a feeling he may decide enough is enough and when he does he will need you there.
