The Complaint Deptartment Has Moved To An Undisclosed Location

A Poem by icelandicblue

Mamma told me not to be a damn fool
not to drop out of school just follow the
rules.

Mama told me not to stare at the sun
not to go on the run with that punk with
the gun.

But I didn't listen, not one little bit
I just wouldn't submit till I got sick of this
s**t.

Went and got my college degree
My mamma agrees that I'm back being
me.

Had a wedding, was a beautiful bride
live in a subdivide on the east
side.

But karma she is one funny b***h
there's always a glitch, I had birthed me a
witch.

Daughter i told her not to be a damn fool
not to drop out of school just follow the
rules.

Daughter I told her not to stare at the sun
not to go on the run with that punk with
the gun.

I figured eventually she would astound
and slow the hell down, and find higher
ground.

So if you are living your life in the fast lane
feeling no pain, when it happens to you just don't
complain.

No need to rate anything Jack, but thanks. ; )
Anne this is so cool and very funny when you think about it. To look down and see ourselves staring (whining, screaming, pouting, cussing) back at us.... where did that come from???

Truly Anne, you are one of my favorite poets here because there is always so much honesty and truth in your words. Happy you are here.

LOVED the structure of this one, icelandic! Fun and funky rhythm, reminded me very much of the song 'Youth of the Nation' by P.O.D.
The rebellious child matures, becomes the parent, and births the rebellious child. The oft-repeated warning: "You'll know what I mean when you grow up". Cyclical defiance, bred through generations. Excellent :)

It is the Parent's Curse - may you have a child just like you someday... A well done poem of universal truth here, Blue.

I have heard such curses and perhaps handed a few out myself. Thanks Rita.
Whats the old saying about you get back ten times what you did from your own kids? Yep...it happens and not just because of karma. Sometimes its our own personality quirks mirrored in the children we give birth to that leads them awry. Love the rhythm in this one...a little different then your usual style!!

the wheel of life rolls round and around the past is never lost. We all attempt to lead the way, our words are often lost. ......Or something like that, The fast lane is ok so long as it don't have sharp bends

You always have to watch out for the chicanes. Thanks Doc.

Wonderful! The circle of life personified! Oh yea, karma can be a b***h, you know it. Very good message in this one. I liked the way the words could almost be rapped! Lydi**
