Both Sides of the Cookie

Both Sides of the Cookie

A Poem by Tyrae'
"

Two sides of a story

"

Let the sun shine down on me

Let it burn away my troubles

Like a warm bubble bath in the winter

Let my happiness come forth

In overflowing bounty

Come, my joy, come to me

Let me rise from my knees turned ashy

From kneeling in sorrow

To smile without pain

Let me have just one day

Without problems

Without worry

Without fear

Without that constant knot in my stomach

Give me the strength to break away

But to keep holding on

To find the truth of it all

And learn to keep balance of both sides equally

Because both sides will be a part of me

Aid me in my struggles to hold on

Even though I am being pulled away

From the roots

My beloved home

Of sweet peaches and pecans

Just like a potato

Grown

In Southern Idaho

Torn from the roots

And strewn all across the U.S

My birthplace

Will always be home
