Mr. Cook

Mr. Cook

A Poem by Christine

He made a reference to Shakespeare on the last day of class:

"Be careful who you grapple yourself to"

I'm the grappling hook dangling from a rusted storm drain

(I think I can hold your weight)

I'm the warning on a bottle of pills

(I think I have no side effects)

I'm the watering can in a garden of dead plants

(I think I can revive them)

I'm a sign that reads

"beware of dog"

"no trespassing"

"abandon all hope, ye who enter here"

(I should be wrapped in caution tape)

A nicely composed self-disclosure, dear poet.
Is "Mr. Cook" the teacher, or to whom the poem was written?
