Oh So Far

Oh So Far

A Poem by inconsistentsea

Have the tables turned?
I see questions in your eyes now.
Which one of us gets burned?
Which ones gets to tell the story of how

(we were) so close
so many times
but oh so far
from committing the crime.

History is told by the victor,
and to them go the spoils of war.
But all is fair in this game.
Don't forget what you're fighting for.

Changing minds
and fickle hearts.
Both of us blind
and far apart.

No communication.
Spinning, no traction.
Silent deliberation,
but no action.

I think it's best
just to walk away.
There is nothing here
for us anyway.
