The Psychopomp's Lover

The Psychopomp's Lover

A Poem by Ingy
"

Pyschopomp-- being an animal, such as a fox, horse, sparrow, cat, or other cultural creatures, who are seen religiously as a guide for the dead and their souls. In this case, this is a sparrow, who is one of my closest animal totems.

"

Bird bride;
I look in the waters there,
And my face is not my own.
He is everywhere,
But he I cannot own.

I live in a gilded cage
singing borrowed songs;
I learned them from my master,
for music is my only food,
and silence is my only dishonor

My husband, the fox in drab gowns
of feathers and of gold—
he tells me secrets, and I believe them;
but of me, he took my wings
and I am always alone.

Its very emotional but it has a sterile stoicism to it that is very intriguing. A solid and relatively fresh format: a good poem in any sense
