I've been standing outside your memory, looking in...

I've been standing outside your memory, looking in...

A Poem by InkSlinger

I've been standing outside your memory, looking in...

I've been looking for meaning, finding none,

Crying inside my heart, always holding back...

I've been seeking hope, without faith...

I've been holding this bagful of sorrow, without feeling,

                  Speaking of love, without articulating...

Waiting for you to come home, knowing you won't
...

Now this is amazing!
Absolutely brilliantly woven! The very first line had me hooked, wanting more..a surreal and unique perspective..sometimes people will never return home, brings a whole new meaning to the soul wandering!
Wonderful work xoxo

Heartbreaking. We have all known that feeling at one time or another. Faith though frightening to leap for, is given it's strength from hope. So keep hoping my friend. You are a great writer. Now speak the words.....outloud. Articulate to whomever, through the words in which you write and you can never go wrong. take the words from you heart to the page to the voice. Speak them outloud. Don't ever continue to with hold your voice and maybe, who knows..... Let hope be your guide to faith.

This piece touches the inner me, a beautiful write of emotional loss.

Ouch. This could mean different things, but to me, it is a poem written beside a tomb stone. I suppose it could equally be about a relationship break up, or perhaps someone in a coma. It has a really strong feeling of sorrow, of lonesomeness, hopelessness, this poem is not afraid to offer no hope, it's uncompromising, emotional, deeply affecting, and stark in it's brevity. Very emotive writing.

Sad s**t man....wow, your really brought the emotion and feelings to a head in a short space. That last line is crazy, but I think we have all been there a time or two. Great job, pulled at these heartstrings for sure.

Very heart-felt, you can almost feel the heart bleeding in the hand.

Ah! Now this one cuts like a knife, right into one's heart. A wonderfully painful write.

This is painful...on so many levels! A person scorned, rejected, turned out, neglected, abandoned...a poor relation, a foundling, an adoptee.

And did you know that the contradictions of our existence all center in our hearts -- that "bagful of sorrow, without feeling", that "hope, without faith", that "speaking...without articulating" -- it's the sum total of what it means to be human sometimes, isn't it? The person who coined the phrase "a mass of contradictions" was not at all off the mark when it comes to the human heart.

For me, this is the most painful line of the poem: "Waiting for you to come home, knowing you won't..." And wondering if you won't come home because I'M here...

This is well written and articulated, my friend!
