Paradoxes on Legs

Paradoxes on Legs

A Poem by Isa Ruffatti
"

This poem is one of my many reflections on life, this one deals with the question: is life good? Is life bad? I don't think life had much to do with it. It's all about us and perspective.

"
Life is life, she says
She wins the lottery.
Life is good, she smiles in delight
Savoring the words, the moment
To it she clings, and hopes on.
Life is good, she singsongs
She forgets to do her homework.
Forgets, forgets, forgets
Life sucks, she sulks
Remember, remember, remember
Her hands momentarily lose their grip
She hits her head
Ouch,
Yet she clings on.
Life is bad, she says, resigned and cynic.
She has a good time with her friends
It must be luck, she wonders
Her grip strengthens
At long last she wonders,
Is life good? Is life bad?
Is it anything at all?
Maybe both?
She looks down on her dangling legs,
She still holds on to the tree of life.
She won the lottery, and life was good
She forgot her homework, and life was sour
Yet she clings on.
My, she thinks
I am a paradox-
to hope and despair,
both at the same time!
Yet to still cling on…
I am a paradox.
A paradox on legs!
