Prisoner of Darkness

Prisoner of Darkness

A Poem by Stevo The POE-t

I
Was
Once
Told
That
I
Was
A
Prison
Of
Emotion

That my eyes are locked with a padlock
The key was thrown away years before

She says that I need to cry more than I do
But I'm scared to death that I'll end up drowning

I have a rib cage made out of prison bars
Her hand rattles the bars in hope of a conversation

My
Soul
Has
A
Firewall
Set
To
Private

If I unlock my walls I'm petrified...
Petrified I won't get them back up in time
And you'll run away in fright from my faultline

Over
The
Years
I've
Set
My
Heart
Inside
Of
Concrete

She believes I never listen to what she is saying
Little does she know I have record payers for ears
And her voice constantly plays in repeat

I'm scared that she'll see the true emptiness inside of me
That the abyss has actually consumed my own paradox

She tells me that I need to open up more and speak freely
How can you muster the words "I'm not good enough for you"

My
Words
Break
In
Fragments
Of
A
Language
Of
Darkness

That's just it I'm a prisoner of my own darkness
And the darkest caverns of my being I created

I've locked myself in solitary confinement
Without intention to be released,
A prisoner of darkness

Someone
Doing
Life
Without
The
Possibility
Of
Parole
