The Void

The Void

A Poem by Jack...
"

Nothing is everyting that it seems

"

The Void

Darkness finds my world this day

Sorrow forms the tear

Loneliness of empty dreams

As all light disappears

Craggy cliffs of memories

Drenched of pains bequeathed

Above me lies the shadowed ridge

Of long forgot belief

Silence rings its anguished bell

A resonating lull

Thoughts of sadness fill my mind

Of which I can’t control

Hollow as all time relates

Exhaustion now deployed

As my life does once again

Collapse within the void

And like a shadow calling

With fingered waving pose

I realize that this loneliness

Is full in my control

For as I stare off wearily

Abandoned on the shelf

I find it’s just a frame of mind

I’ve placed upon myself

For if indeed this is a void

Then nothing would exist

Days would go uncounted

Even after all is missed

When now in my illusions

A’ wander on this trail

The void is my solution

I’m certain not to fail

When if this sorrowed feeling

The torment and the pain

Is tossed into the dark abyss

Then nothing shall remain

And I shall breathe a sorted

Sigh of disbelief

To learn that in this nothingness

I find my true relief

So take this of my being

This sadness now deployed

To disappear before my eyes

Into the darkened void

Exactly, nothing is at it seems, I've learnt that lately. I don't want to go and give you a big sob story but this touched me.

Thank you my friend, happy you are enjoying these...I hope this one touched you in a good way.
A great sort of reasoning I'd bet. If we can all realize that this is possible there might be far more smiles decorating the human face. Well done Jack.

Thanks Astro. I always appreciate your visits.
The logic you applied in this poem to expel the dark void is exemplary - its like a prescription - a homeopathic cure for the black dog Jack. Its shamanic, is what it is.
Well done Jack!

Rofl - shamantic - oh you !! ;)
this reminds me of a poem I wrote (not as good as this) back in the 80's. Don't know if I have it here or not. Yup, it is here. Its called State of Mind. I'll RR you. Like I said, its not of this caliber. Dark is not your usual palette, Jack but when you do it it is palpable.

you are biased. But that's ok! You made my day.
Your words are dark Jack, but there is light here as well and I can feel it as I read your words.
..and I shall breathe a sorted sigh of disbelief to learn that in this nothingness I find my true relief - wise words here. Sometimes we need this silence - this nothingness - to heal.
A wonderfully written poem Jack. You have an amazing talent.

Sometimes we trip over a pebble in the way, and behave as if it were a boulder...
As this piece seems to contradict itself. Leave the sadness in the void...and come out, into the daylight.
And smile for your Angel!

You are very much loved around here, my Sweet Prince...not the least by your Princess...
A void that finds the darkness of ink to be its only refuge...

Silence rings its anguished bell
A resonating lull...

Amazing sensory imagery here - I am lost in the depth of the silence...

I don't read much poetry, but I really enjoyed this. It seems there is a battle between hope and despair. I especially like the line "I realize that this loneliness/ Is full in my control," contrasting "Thoughts of sadness fill my mind/ Of which I can’t control."

Thanks so much for choosing to read mine. I think this entire piece is contradictive in so many ways.. read more
Sometimes we need to escape into the nothingness....to feel numb for a while. Your words are dark, yet the flawless rhyme and jazzy rhythm of your words leads me to believe this darkness will not last long. We do talk ourselves into feeling depressed sometimes....and there are days when that's okay. If you are having a pity party though, make sure you have plenty of gin, ice cream, and other "staples" available. Very well written poetry, Jack. Lydi**

You are so talented Jack and no pun intended even in the dark genre. You will never be collapsed from our hearts and minds. Purge and pen on my friend...:)
