Spinning

Spinning

A Poem by Jack...
"

Missing a lost love

"

Spinning

It is midnight

As I find the door closed…slammed

and shadows of what once was

disappearing down the drive

into the dreary nightscape so barren…as is my heart

It is 1:00 am

The fan… it hums,

affixed its ceilinged perch, spinning,

spitting a constant flow of sorrowed air

upon my unguarded skin…sifting my soul

It is 2:00 am

My eyes are open, wet… stained,

still staring at the spinning blades,

counting the blur of rotation,

finding it difficult to focus…on anything

It is 3:00 am

My mind is another place,

far from the undisturbed side of the bed,

monogrammed with your absence,

hand-stitched in loss and sadness

It is 4:00 am

I clutch your pillow,

inhaling your scent,

feeling the folds encase me

in down…which I feel, though not as soft

It is 5:00 am

The alarm clock startles me,

as my heart re- breaks…and

my eyes form their  tortured

river of tears, falling upon my already saturated place

It is 6:00 am (the sun is rising)

I miss you…desperately

Metaphors. They are souls of every romantic poem and you know how to use them right. Your adjectives are also so well fitting. Very nice read.

Thank you so very much Butterfly. Happy you enjoyed it.
Oh, the heart break of broken love.
The emptiness the missing lover has left behind.
To wait through the night for those headlights that are not going to turn in at the driveway...for the keys that are not going to jingle at the lock, for the familiar step, the sweet smell as you are enfolded in the familiar arms that are not there...
I have felt all of these things, staring at the ceiling fan...
And I know the loneliness of broken love.

You have captured it perfectly.
Thank you.

Thank so much Keith
oh what a terrible place to be instead of turning round to find her there smiling at you waiting for a cuddle or a freshly brewed cup of coffee to start the day together.
I like the way you stated the time because that's just how it is when our minds are pre occupied. The time is so relevant and obvious even although we wish we couldn't see the clock we always want to...and look at the face ! Then it seems to drag even longer in to the night till we reach morning...a little exhausted and emotionally drained. You painted a very clear picture here...Well written..thank you x

WELCOME..!
I can relate to this in a sense. It's when I can't sleep my mind starts to rehash things I'd rather not think about. Good poem Jack

Thanks so much my friend.
This was wonderfully good..too good really. Unique and truly felt. Thank you for sharing your moment of grief. Such a pity that heartbreak inspires such a gift of writing.

Thank you so much my friend. I truly appreciate your kind words.
This is so sad, Jack. :( I can feel your pain just by reading this. Truly, a lost love is the only thing we can never get over. At least, that's what I believe. But it's somewhat a good thing when we can focus that pain into creating something as beautiful as this poem. Really great job!
