Might we

Might we

A Poem by Jack...
"

So many possibilities

"

Might we…

Might we…

pass on a sidewalk framed by clearance sales

and hot dog vendors

Smiling as to take our attention,

brand our thoughts cosmetically,

alter our daydreams to cast a glow

amidst the haze that is this destiny

Might we…

stand on lonely platforms

watching the smoke in the distance

as the 5:00 o’clock

Sunset Liner approaches

with a full head of steam

distracting our eyes with a forgotten whistle tone

Might we…

whisper meandering thoughts

of great importance on the wind,

wishing them a safe journey

and hoping these words, our love sick phrases

reach the heart of another

sitting in the crowd all alone

Might we…

find if we look beyond the past

covering the darkness

with twinkle lights and glass ornaments,

filling the branches of the future with hope,

that desired happiness

springs from its roots

Might we…

dream of cosmic realities in floral dance steps

on kaleidoscope stairways

winding through our thoughts

delivering us to the floor

just above where our eyes meet

Might we

live in and around long distance shadows

and typed conversations,

dipping into the vast vocabulary

waiting patiently to be shared

between our hearts

Might we…

love

I love the way this moves from concrete to abstract, from tactile to the heart just like the mind wanders across strong emotions. Lovely poem.

Thank you so very much for you kind words my sweet friend. I appreciate you
This one is so sweet, especially the last stanza. Those chance encounters of the heart, you never know what will stem from them :)

Ahh...sweet possibilities. They always exist in our mind and heart. Just takes the right person to turn might we to we will. Beautiful Jack... ;-)

a chance meeting which could turn into love..."might we" take a chance and turn this into something more than a look, a smile, and a nod...

chance meetings are for a reason...i believe in that karma..some people are meant to spend time together.

"might" like this one a lot i think.

Beautiful imagery in this one...stunningly "real". My favorite stanzas were the 2nd and the Final (the one about typed conversations)--these just really stuck out to me in terms of imagery and detail. I'm fascinated by the mind behind this write...the person who is so observant and effective in his vivid imagery and metaphor. Again, you have thrilled me with one of your beautiful free verse pieces, Jack!

Awwwwww, Jackomantic - how lovely and romantic was this! I love how you began each line with 'Might we' and it was like reading an extract out of an amazing book, it reeled me in and took us on a little journey. Just lovely, my friend, lovely.

Always a pleasure.
This is sweet, Jack.
But this stanza caught my attention:
"Might we
live in and around long distance shadows
and typed conversations,
dipping into the vast vocabulary
waiting patiently to be shared
between our hearts"

I can see two people in opposite parts of the globe here. Lol.
Why not? There are many possibilities in this complicated world...

Thanks for sharing this wonderful work.
