Buddy

A poem about my Rat Terrier Buddy written for Angel's "My best friend is a dog" contest.

 

 

 

 

This is a story of man’s best friend

Told in the form of a poem

Short little legs always running around

I’m sure you’d be pleased just to know him

 

Black and white spots of a furry design

A tail that is constantly wagging

Always around, asleep in my lap

He loves me and no I ain’t bragging

 

Give him a treat and he’ll do you a dance

Begging, he seems so proficient

Cleaning up scraps after dinner is through

I’m happy to say he’s efficient

 

Chasing a cat, well he’s not that fast

Still he will bark at them loudly

Then he’ll return with that look on his face

I give him a pat oh so proudly

 

He sleeps by the door, a protector he is

Always so ready and willing

To scare off intruders who lurk in the night

A growl that he knows is so chilling

 

So needless to say he’s my very best friend

I try everyday just to show him

So no need to ask how much he means to me

I’ve written it out in this poem

So, you have impersonated a doglover this time. Well, I am a huge doglover. i always wanted to have a pet dog. mom never allowed. So I pet every dog I can. At my friends', at relatives' on streets, anywhere! :P

i like the attempt you have made to come out of your comfort zone and that is very well intended. Though, for the first time, i felt your poem lacked the feel that it normally has. i always brace your excellence but you lose it this time an d that badly! Good luck! :)

It feels good to see another fellow animal lover. It's fair to say that I'm crazy about animals, actually. My dog is a mix between a maltese and a bichon (not sure if I spelled it right). I love her more than anything. Somedays I feel like she's the only one genuinely happy to see me. She's my very best friend too. So I'm very happy to see you write such a wonderful poem about your dog, Jack. I have even more respect and praise for you than ever. :)

this made me smile for so many reasons. My Fred had a Buddy. he was a border collie blue heeler cross. Sweet dog. We still have his "widow" Jessy who is an Australian shepherd red heeler cross and one of the pups - Skippy.
