Once upon a times...once again

Once upon a times...once again

A Poem by Jack...
"

A poem written to Jimi Hendrix' Little Wing

"

Once upon a time…once again

“Well she's walking through the clouds”

Little wings keep her upright

as she strolls through the sunrise

now brightly glowing within my heart,

blind to my feelings

“With a circus mind that's running wild”

Beneath azure tents of atmosphere,

smiling at another perfect day in her world

While tame white tigers

roar on cue

“Butterflies and zebras”

Watercolor happiness fills her eyes

as she chases the beauty of this nature,

caressing all that she touches

with the wonder that is her essence

“And moonbeams and fairy tales”

Moonbeam, something I have not called her

and once upon a times, when poppies and dandelions sing

the saddest of songs for my desires

flood in a downpour of dreams not realized

“That's all she ever thinks about”

Him...while frolicking childlike atop cotton candy visions

never once looking my way,

finding this love I hold so gently,

only for her

“Riding with the wind”

On whispered zephyrs she disappears

as day drinks of twilight

and weary eyes find star light harsh…I sleep,

waiting for the new day, waiting for her…once again

The sub-headed lines in between the main text works really nicely, amazing language and an emotive romantic piece here, lovely work.

Thanks so much. Those lines were actually lyrics from the Jimi Hendrix rendition of "Little Wing"
"the saddest of songs for my desires
flood in a downpour of dreams not realized." My favorite lines.

Thank you for writing beautiful poems such as this, Jack. You are a talented poet. :)

Thank you for allowing me to share it with you.
I have been working on an 'unlove' poem for days and days. I don't know how to write like this, Jack. I may have too much medusa in my blood or something! Ha! I love me some Jimi and this just flows with the vibe he lays out. Angi~

Thanks so much Angi. I'm with you on the Jimi love fest.
How do you do it? I've read a lot of your poetry over the past half a year or so and I don't think I've ever read a "dud" or one that was just "so so" - sometimes the poems are so steeped in that beautiful romantic love that I even shrink from them - because I'm a dork - I feel love deeply but I rarely get to that depth of expression with what I call pure love or romantic love - the waltz, the summer day, the swell of violins or the way the breeze flirts with flowers - I'm all sandpaper. But this - actually the first line of each stanza is what really grabs me - yours of course (no offense to Jimi) Its beautiful writing. Every time I'm blessed to read you.

Tammy, you are no dork and if you were, you'd be the cutest dork I have ever seen. Thank you so much.. read more
Lovers in dreams, dreaming of lovers... or those that we wish were lovers... sometimes those dreams can be quite powerful! Love the feel of this one, Jack!

Thanks so much my friend.
I love the unique structure of your poem. It is a lyrical symphony:

"And moonbeams and fairy tales”
Moonbeam, something I have not called her
and once upon a times, when poppies and dandelions sing
the saddest of songs for my desires

flood in a downpour of dreams not realized
