The next best thing

The next best thing

A Poem by Jack...

The next best thing

Dark shadows hug the ceiling

Like so many helium balloons

Carelessly released by a child

Reaching for the next best thing

Eventually they will fall weary

Cascading in monochrome misery

Suffocating my empty world

In languishing latex and rubber

And I sit on the cold floor waiting

Staring above at my timely demise

Finally coming to the realization

I am not the next best thing

Jack, I really wish there was something I could do that would cheer you up... You are the next best thing Jack, you always come first for me. Where would I be without you, huh?

// Cascading in monochrome misery

I am going to make you smile, or laugh and I am going to bring your sunshine back. This was sad, a poignant.

Thanks so very much my sweet friend. I am always thrilled when you stop by.
"Suffocating my empty world

In languishing latex and rubber

And I sit on the cold floor waiting"

Waiting timely and patiently in this empty world for the next best thing. We scrub the floors to sparkle our kitchen of desires. We stare at the hour of reunion or our demise for that matter.
A powerful and touching write...Splendid...:)...............................
