ODES OF WAR

ODES OF WAR

A Poem by Jamil Isimbabi

I think of the day when all this bloodshed
would splash on the flags and stain them red
The day we would wish we don't have to teach our kids
how to draw flags with stains of red

Trapped in a place where bullets of lead
are the lines between the living and the dead
That day those soldiers shooting shells
cozened to fight for leaders living well
Would wish they fought instead
for their sons hugs and lovers beds
Would wish they fought to live than fought to die
with a chandelier of guilt hanging in mind

War leave no winners. Just poor people in the way of war. A powerful poem. I do not understand how killing and war keep coming. With new media. Who would want war for their people? Only greedy men and madmen. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

A great wake up call and message of peace. The innocent are the most affected by those vicious wars while the leaders benefit and live good lives. Bravo................
