Fades AwayA Poem by jane reidFor me these words depict a time during which one reflects on the good that once was, when all that is left is darkness and a glimpse of the memory of what it was like to feel bliss.
Memories are fading
And time is slowing Down with your heartbeat Noises all around Make you feel safe and sound Until it all stops Burn a fire and watch it die Watching as the last bright ember turns to grey All of the memories are fading away And when I looked up at the sky I saw you waving goodbye
You lie there taking In the life you’re losing Thinking of the only thing That keeps you going
Burn a fire and watch it die Watching as the last bright ember fades away All of the memories disappear And I looked up at the sky To see you waving goodbye
Take a breath And look at what’s left Your days are numbered
Burn a fire and watch it die Watch as the last ember fades © 2016 jane reid |
