Naked Under Shadows

Naked Under Shadows

A Poem by jasonpaisley
"

Poem i wrote for an old friend who has cancer.

"

naked under shadows the dark beckons long
feeling yourself drawn into the well of despair
but look inside yourself and you'll understand
there is a hope deep within no darkness can compare
turn yourself around to face the night's grasp
and let your vulnerability become your flare
calling to you an army of the ones who love you true
stand
reach into your chest and hold your heart high
stare deep in the eyes of the demon host
clothed in the embrace of unity of ties that defy miles
the hopes and prayers of the ones you love the most
carry their light and let it shine through all you feel
and all the despair that surrounds fades like a ghost
and you rise
naked under shadows nevermore
always in flight above the snares of the dark
they cannot see you anymore
for your light is our love brighter than the daystar
even if for a time you forget we cannot
whether time be short or long you be near or far
we love you dear sister, lover, mother, friend
and it is your love on which our own light depends

I feel that if it rhymes you just put more effort into it. This is one of my faves.

i think it would look better if it was centred for some reason. otherwise, an uplifting read.

This was wonderfully written. It stinksd that your friend has cancer. Tell them that everybody at Writers Cafe sends their regards.
