A Rose

A Rose

A Poem by Lady Scarlet Valuten

For as long as I can remember roses were always my favorites

White ones, yellow ones, and purple ones were always divine

But pink and especially red roses were always the best

They were all of them equally beautiful because of you

My old friend whenever you come to visit me

It always seems that my rose bushes burst into full bloom

It doesn’t matter the time of year

They gleam and shine in the winter snow

They glisten and sparkle in the summer sun

And the water makes them so fresh and lively

Whether it is a heavy afternoon rain or early morning dew

All this beautiful credit goes without a doubt to you

Yet after you leave, they seem to wither somehow as though they are sad

Still they are not bereft of their magical beauty

Even though we will miss you terribly

We know someday soon you’ll be back knocking on my door

When you do your magical roses shall work their beautiful spell

And they will return my heart to its full bloom once more
