MORNING RITUAL

MORNING RITUAL

A Poem by jeannemarie coulter

MORNING RITUAL

i have swallowed my pills,
all those multicolored pharmaceutical soldiers
marching down my gullet into the dark battlefield within my body...
i wonder as they slip into the river of hot chocolate laced with homemade amaretto,
so pristine, and high and tight for another sneak attack
against the viral warriors hiding in the blood rivers,
 inside me...
does it matter which soldier i swallow first,
what bright colored uniform enters the foray in front,
after all,
 they are firing blanks,
they are warriors trained by the coyote trickster god,
my little soldiers don’t kill the virus enemy,
they just trick it by changing uniforms
and the manner of attack,
and,
as long as my soldiers remain just a little more clever,
a little quicker to change uniform,
 or attack pattern,
i remain alive one more day
to flow along the amberlavenderlace slipstream,
threading through the universe
enjoying all that is offered
by the beauty of my ocean brushed redwood forest home

ahhhhhh...

to much heavy thought here,
come on petey, belleadonna and steve,
my canine companions,
 let's take a walk
through the fairy forest behind our house,
to wander through the mushroom circle,
where night fairies and elves danced in the misty moonsilk...
you will check the morning natural newspaper
to see who or what dropped by last night to visit our garden
while i was warmvelvet wrapped in slumber,
dancing in midnight lavenderchiffon dreams...

Honest thoughts in the powerful poetry.
"WE WILL check the morning natural newspaper
to see who or what dropped by last night to visit my garden
while we were warmvelvet wrapped in slumber
dancing in midnight lavenderchiffon dreams..."
I believe a lot of us find safety in dreams. In set-up dreams we never lose, love is forever and war is a forgotten myth. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
