burning dandelions

childhood looked me in the eye
i could not hold its gaze
the smell of burning dandelions
now haunts me all my days

in blasphemy of cursed recants
that which we can't recover

where bitterness has breached my skin
and time has filled the crack
just as my thoughts run to the moon
and make it halfway back
