Something More

Something More

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

Sometimes we just belong to the concourse, where our faces cannot be discerned from the ones around us.

"
All words left unspoken
I have no intention or drive to say.
I left my soul wide open
Where before I'd been a living safe.
And yet you left me broken
All alone in your palace cave,
Expecting to be saved.

And here I am,
Calling out to you.
Yeah here I am,
Waiting pure and true.
I said HERE I AM!
With no idea of what to do.

Take it as a token,
A reminder of what we used to be.
Long past the time for joking,
Young dreams forgotten or fading.
As cruel time pulls us away
I'm just waiting to hear you say
I need you now, so stay.

And here I am,
Calling out to you.
Yeah here I am,
Waiting pure and true.
I said HERE I AM!
With no idea of what to do.

And the tear stains
Christening the castle floor
Are bringing me pain.
As my heart beats faster,
All I see are colors...
And I cant say
A word to you and yet stay sane
If you just knew.

And here I am,
Calling out to you.
Yeah here I am,
Waiting pure and true.
I said HERE I AM!
With no idea of what to do.

My life is wholly shattered
If I can't stay close to you.
I've shed blood and been battered,
And yet still you refuse
To come back to
The world once shared by me and you.

And here I am,
Calling out to you.
Yeah here I am,
Waiting pure and true.
I said HERE I AM!
With no idea of what to do.

And I'm dizzier now than ever
Fever spiking higher, higher.
And I'm sweating through the life you severed
When you left me behind that night.
And its pouring rain
And I'm going insane
While calling your name
But I know that long ago
The story we made ceased to be foretold.
Yet still i'm sticking to the strands of you
And crying hoping you'll hold me like you used to
But there's not enough to hold on to.

Why was I not enough for you?
Why did you need something more?
I miss you.
