I'm Afraid

Abuse...this is what it does.

Ripping, tearing

At the magnesium shield

That you've set around me

To keep me concealed.

And I'm crying out loud

Wishing someone would hear

And come to help me now.

And I need to

Find my voice again

But I'm afraid to

'Cause of the pain in my consequence.

And I'm dripping fear 

As you swagger in drunkenly.

And I'm tripping through the years

On scattered remnants of my tortured dreams.

Running, hiding

From my pained reality

Screaming, Crying

When you are near me

Slowly dying

And I don't know 

What it means

To be free

And I need to

Find my voice again

But I'm afraid to

Again, all I can say is "damn!"

This just gave me chills. Holy chocolate-covered Robert Downer Jr, this is perfect. It almost reads like a song, but just as well as the poem.

How is this not at the top of the popular writing? (though really, I guess that's a popularity contest based on numbers of virtual friends, not quality of writing)

But still. This is freaking perfect.

And I'll say damn once more, partially for good measure and partially because I cannot imagine how it feels to have this much emotion. I'm not sure if the writing amplifies it or not, but if you need to talk, just message me. I may be completely insane and altogether quite unhelpful, but at least I don't bite (usually).
