Friends Disappear

Friends Disappear

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

10/15/14

"
Leaves turn red
They fall
Brown branches
On long-standing trees
Curl with the crisp mourning air
Embracing the change.

Clouds turn black
Rain falls
Faces color with the mood
The weather hails
And summer drowns in its chill
Embracing the change.

Friends fall too
They fail
Their shields,
At times,
Are not so strong
For humans do not so easily embrace the change

So sometimes
Friends disappear
They become strangers,
Foreigners,
Outsiders.

They become someone
You never thought they could ever be
But sometimes it's you
Do not run from the winds of change

Stay for the hurricane
Stay for the turmoil, the torment
Stand your ground
As well you can

And if you're blown away
Learn
How to embrace the change
And we will welcome you back
With open arms
